I suppose that very few people with diabetes would be concerned with how to gain weight fast, but I include this topic anyway to make a point about the powerful effect of physical exercise.
One co-worker just told me how he put on five pounds in a very short period of time with a concurrent decrease in his waist size.
So you may ask, except for pregnancy weight gain, how can one gain weight quickly when it's not totallydue to the food you are eating?
What this co-worker experienced was muscle building due to exercise stimulation. That is how you can gain weight fast - one way, at least. Muscle is denser than fat and so building your muscles while burning fat may mean a net weight gain.
Can you convert fat to muscle?
Don't let anyone tell you that you can convert body fat into muscle. Fat and muscle are two different kinds of tissues, serving different purposes in the body. Fat is essentially stored fuel.
Power of Physical Exercise
Aerobic exercise can cause you to build muscle while burning fat. You can therefore experience weight gain and fat reduction simultaneously.

Speaking of muscles, the statement above is very true. So to anyone wanting to know how to gain weight fast (or even to lose weight), the advise would be to do what is natural. Exercise.
Exercise helps to build muscle while losing fat, sculpting the body back to the physical specimen of beauty it was meant to be.
What else other than exercise?
Is there anything else other than exercise that can make one gain weight fast?
Yes. One can take weight enhancing supplements. Some of these work by stimulating the appetite. You would then be eating more and hence gain weight. But what kind of weight?
I suspect that without the exercise that kind of weight gaining process results mostly in body fat. For sure, no one eats animal muscle (meat) to become muscular - it doesn't happen that way. Exercise does that.
You may not need a supplement to increase your appetite if you need to gain weight fast either. Just start exercising. That will increase the desire to eat more, for sure!
How to gain weight fast? Well, like my co-worker who started running exercise found out: You would not have to run too long before your appetite opens up and your muscle-building response gets on the way...
And with the effect of melatonin released in the brain, you will get a good feeling while you gain weight and burn fat.
